Our Philosophy

It doesn't matter what the "experts" like, and it doesn't matter what the highest-rated beer in the world is, either. What matters is what you like.

After all, one man's swill is another man's happy hour favorite.

And so was born Barley Buddy. We compare the beers you like (and dislike) against all our other users' to figure out the best beer to quench your specific thirst.

About Us

Sean: I never was much of a beer fan until I moved to Germany back in 2003. The amount of tasty, quality brews over there really opened my eyes to what a beer could be. Flash forward eight years and I'm back in the U.S. and discovering just how many great microbrews and craft beers there really are here! (But I'm not neglecting the imports, either!)

Steve: I'm lucky to have grown up in the beer capital of the free world, Portland, Oregon. Even the local grocery stores (Yeah, Fred Meyer, I'm lookin' at you!) carry a dazzling array of specialty beers, microbrews, and all manner of locally made stuff. So finding something new to try, that's no problem. Finding something I'll probably enjoy? Well, that's where this site comes in.

I'm proud of what Sean and I have built, and I hope you'll give it a try. I've already found some great new beverages, and I think you will too.
